China Sees Surge in Foreign Trademark Registrations as IP Landscape Evolves

China’s intellectual property environment continues to attract foreign interest, with 94,000 trademark registration applications submitted by non-Chinese entities in the first half of 2025, reflecting a 7.4% year-on-year growth, according to the China National Intellectual Property Administration (CNIPA).

This steady rise signals growing confidence in China’s IP ecosystem, which has undergone extensive reforms to support innovation, enhance transparency, and streamline registration procedures. China has been intensifying efforts to enhance efficiency in trademark reviews, expand international cooperation and harmonization, and promote transparency and legal safeguards for brand owners.
